The 2 km jaunt along the Mill Creek Ravine is a ‘tributary’ path of the N. Saskatchewan River and is one of Edmonton’s more popular running spots. Start near the Muttart Conservatory, which has lovely botanical gardens worth a visit. From the parking lot at 98th St. & Connors Rd. NW, enjoy the main paved trail for this 4 km round-trip run, with easy options to add on.
Adjoining Forest Heights Park and Dawson Park are two of the larger and more important parks in the Edmonton North Saskatchewan Valley parks system. They are close to downtown and are great standalone or as a combined run, offering greenery, good scenery, and great downtown views.
The North Saskatchewan River Valley is the largest urban park in Canada, with 160 km of maintained trails and 20 major parks. Running along the River Valley trails is fantastic — accessible to downtown, on paved trails, with water views and wonderful parks. There are trails on the north and south sides of the river, with bridges at decent intervals providing for good loop options. Many of Edmonton’s major sites are located along these trails.
